< The Masked Singer: What to...
Season 2 of Amazon’s live-action The Tick sees its two heroes facing some stiff competition when it comes to the question of who gets the job of protecting the City from villains both old and new. The adaptation of Ben Edlund’s comic book hit Amazon Prime in 2018, and after a bizarre split in the season that saw it’s two halves air roughly six months apart, the series is back with yet another new suit for its titutar blue hero, and a new set of circumstances facing Tick (Peter Serafinowicz) and his once-reluctant sidekick Arthur (Griffin Newman) in the aftermath of their showdown with the Terror (Jackie Earle Hayley).
That showdown also included Arthur’s sister Dot (Valorie Curry) and the violent vigilante/Punisher spoof Overkill (Scott Speiser) — along with his talking boat, Dangerboat, voiced by Alan Tudyk — opening the door for season 2 to incorporate a storyline about all the weird and not-so wonderful new heroes and villains popping up out of the woodwork, now that the City is worth protecting. Those new costumed crime fighters will also feature a villain from season 1, in Ms. Lint (Yara Martinez), who appears to be using her powers to gain a little notoriety in a different way.
Amazon officially released the new trailer along with a new poster and a selfie showing off the expanded cast of season 2. And as far as trailers go, this one presents yet another new vision of the show, one that illustrates the degree to which The Tick continues to fine tune its presentation, particularly when it comes to the quality of costumes, the special effects, and the comedy. The result looks like an all-around improvement over an ambitious but flawed first season. Check out the trailer, poster, and synopsis below:
